I am a certified postpartum doula, a certified breastfeeding counselor, I teach pre/postnatal yoga, I am a new mom's group facilitator and a mom to an amazing 6 year old. My passion and fascination with all things moms, babies, and kids has put me on the path of providing open-minded support to my clients and students whatever their choices may be.

I'm a board certified NY State acupuncturist who specializes in family care - including women's health, fertility, postpartum care and pediatrics. I reside in downtown Manhattan, but I am happy to make house calls when needed. I enjoy working with new parents and helping them along the way.

I am prenatal and postpartum chef, herbalist and yoga teacher. I believe that whole foods and plants are our greatest healers. I feel continually awed by all aspects of birth; serving families during this incredible time in life and helping them thrive is truly my passion.

I'm one of those lucky people who gets to do what I love. I work with pregnant women, new moms and babies. Pregnancy is such a special time in a women's life and I feel privileged to be part of it. With pregnancy your body goes through so many changes both physical and hormonal. I use massage to provide relief from pain and reduce stress. I also offer nutritional consulting for pregnant women making sure they have the nutritional support needed for the healthy growth and development of their baby. I love meeting new people and sharing experiences. I live in Jersey City. I love cooking, reading, yoga and traveling. Being outdoors feeds my spirit.

I offer yoga and mindfulness meditation for women who are trying to become pregnant, are expecting and new moms. As you navigate this journey, the techniques I teach show you how to stay present, be strong (both physically and mentally), self-care, and remaining grounded throughout this profoundly incredible experience. My path to yoga started as an undergrad when I took my first yoga class, and as cliche as it may sound, I was hooked; I enjoyed the gentle flow from pose to pose as well as the inner peace I felt at the end of class by being able to let go of things. When I began thinking about becoming a mom, I started a prenatal yoga teacher training, so I could become more informed about the whole experience.. I wasn't sure if I would ever teach classes. It took me nearly three years to become pregnant, and included multiple interventions: IUIs, IVFs, weekly acupuncture, mindfulness meditation, and especially yoga for fertility, which I researched and taught myself. Yoga offered me gentle movement and a safe place to be with what was going on. After going through this very intense and emotional journey to become a mama, I decided to finish my Prenatal yoga teacher training in order to offer moms-to-be guidance on their journey to motherhood.

I am passionate about breastfeeding and am conscious of the complexities of the breastfeeding relationship. I have three children and had varying experiences with all three of them. I have always loved babies and thrilled to have found a career that is focused on new families.

I support women through their pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum recovery by teaching prenatal and postpartum yoga, well care workshops, and by offering birth support. As a young girl growing up in NM I found that riding horses gave me a sense of calm that I later found on my yoga mat. I began practicing yoga in 2000, since my daughter was born in 1998, I had not yet discovered how yoga would enhance my pregnancy. With my son’s birth in 2003 I could tell the benefits of yoga as my pregnancy progressed. At this point I knew I wanted to share my experience with other women. This is why I’ve dedicated myself to teaching prenatal & postpartum yoga, lead well care workshops, & offer birth support. I love helping mothers connect with their babies through yoga and watching babies & children respond to its soothing calm and peacefulness. I’ve finally found my passion in assisting women through the full spectrum of well care from pregnancy to recovery in the postpartum period.

I am co-owner of Jump Ahead Pediatrics in Jersey City, Little Falls, and Roseland, NJ. I am an occupational therapist, wife to a police officer, and mama to a spunky 2 y/o boy :)

Dr. Brayton writes regularly on health-related topics and is a lecturer for various holistic groups in the community, including at yoga studios, childbirth education centers, and new moms’ groups. She also continues to stay up-to-date and current in her field with frequent post-graduate seminars in functional medicine, nutrition, allergy elimination, pediatrics, and maternity.

Most of my life was spent in the performing arts, traveling the world with a dance company, and photographing my journeys. But having children shifted my perspective and revealed a new calling. I wanted to create the community and support that I myself longed for around as a new mother. Through my own story, and those of women around me, I came to understand the significance of what is probably the most profound, yet so often undervalued, life change a person can experience - the transition into motherhood, and parenthood. It’s the birth that comes after childbirth. Just like childbirth, the “4th trimester” is an intense, life altering, and vulnerable time when we are born as as mothers and fathers. We question everything as we find our new normal, learn and grow in unfathomable ways, and are catapulted into the unknown. It is a time when we need others to encourage us, advocate for us, lift us up, and celebrate with us. My passion and joy lies in providing a safe haven for families, giving them the compassion and unconditional support they deserve as they navigate all the newness. I am am grateful to have have been working intimately with families for almost a decade, and I look forward to working with many more.
