Margot Simmons

Baby Feeding Specialist

Pregnancy Coach

Baby Sleep Consultant

Newborn/Parenting Educator

Lactation Counselor (CLC)

My name is Margot Lowenstein Simmons and I was born to mother...much to the chagrin of my younger sister, and if I had known what a doula was when I was growing up in Washington, DC, my life would have looked a lot different. Today, I am working to redefine the scope of doula. I am a trained postpartum doula, a certified breastfeeding counselor and a Sleep Savvy Gentle Sleep Coach. I bring my own personal humor and joy for family to my work. My Masters in early childhood development, along with my own unique birth, postpartum and toddler-raising experiences help me support a wide variety of families as they tackle the often-unplanned for aftermath of bringing baby home and raising young kids. I provide truly nonjudgemental support and specialize in offering practical tips and tricks, coaching to ensure a happy, relaxed family unit, transitioning to and from work, as well as the special experience of having toddlers! Because - I think we could all use a little less judgement and little more doula.

Postpartum Doula

Lactation Counselor (CLC)

Antepartum Doula

I aim to support families in whatever their postpartum experience brings. This can include everything from baby care while you rest or shower, to preparing meals for your family, to taking out the trash (hey, someone's gotta do it!) As a certified lactation counselor, I love providing help and encouragement with breastfeeding, but I am equally happy to assist families who are formula feeding in the logistics of their journey. Everything I do, I aim to do with non-judgement, a helping hand, and a little laughter along the way! I love postpartum work because it allows me to witness and support the beauty that is a new family... in all it's chaotic, messy, love-filled glory. I enjoy providing hands on, everyday support for families along with emotional reinforcement. There are endless articles, opinions, gadgets and gear out there in the baby world, it's easy to get lost. Sometimes all you need is the support of a community, your intuition to guide you, and of course lots of love from your postpartum doula :-)

Lindsay Stoulil

Nutritionist

Postpartum Doula

Postpartum Chef

Lactation Counselor (CLC)

As a Postpartum Doula, Chef, and Mom to two daughters, nourishing families is what I’m most passionate about. I serve new parents as a sounding board and additional set of hands while navigating the weeks after birth. I believe that culinary support is an integral part of postpartum healing, providing physical energy in addition to emotional comfort. As a Nutritionist (RDN) and Lactation Counselor (CLC), I support new parents through all stages of feeding their babies, from the first feed though first foods and beyond. My hope is to provide families with warm, evidence-based support so they can rest, restore, and focus on their new little person or persons.

Lactation Counselor (CLC)

Lena DeGloma, M.S., is an expert practitioner and instructor of therapeutic massage with over 12 years of experience. She is the founder and director of Red Moon Wellness in Park Slope, Brooklyn. She has a Master of Science in Therapeutic Herbalism from Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) where she also completed post-graduate clinical training. Lena is an experienced certified birth doula, lactation counselor, and childbirth educator and has supported hundreds of New York families in their transition into parenthood. Her clinical work in massage therapy and herbal medicine is centered on reproductive health and the childbearing cycle. Lena is currently on the Board of Directors of the Childbirth Education Association of Metropolitan NY (CEA/MNY) and she teaches classes on optimal perinatal nutrition in CEA/MNY's Teacher Certification Program. Lena is also a part-time faculty member at the ArborVitae School of Traditional Herbalism in Manhattan where she teaches courses on herbal therapeutics for female reproductive health and the musculoskeletal system. In her capacity as an educator she has supervised student massage clinics, taught massage courses, and written prenatal massage curriculum at two professional massage therapy training programs in NY. Lena is passionate about helping individuals and families take charge of their health and reduce their reliance on expensive, high impact and, often unnecessary, medical interventions by learning to incorporate simple wellness practices that are rooted in traditional wisdom and supported by modern evidence.

Cathy Burns

Postpartum Doula

Postpartum Chef

Lactation Counselor (CLC)

I am a certified Carriage House/Birdsong postpartum doula and a certified breastfeeding consultant. In Chinese medicine, the future health of women and birthing people is linked to the kind of recovery they have after pregnancy and birth. Nourishment, rest and support facilitate a thorough revival. I believe the future of your relationship and your family are also impacted by this recovery period. As a postpartum doula I help every member of the family heal, acclimate and adjust. It is important that everyone in your family unit understands how to help, how to be included, how to stay connected. Oxytocin floods the body after delivery. It truly is a love hormone which can guide a birthing person with superhero maternal instincts. Many partners and siblings feel confused, sometimes even useless. I share evidence based techniques and information to help you all support each other. This way no one gets left behind and you build a strong base for your new family. Plus I bring sourdough bread because I love baking sourdough bread and find it to be a little bit of a metaphor for living. We need the village. We need generational guidance. We need support. We live in a culture that praises mothers and parents who power through and manage unassisted. Postpartum is a precious and exhuasting time, full of challenges that are hard to anticipate even if you are having a second or a third child. I tidy, I cook, I minister to the birthing person’s physical healing preparing herbal soaks and teas and specifically nourishing and healing foods, I share newborn soothing, feeding, sleeping and care techniques, I let you rest and find your way together. I mother you just in case your mother comes with extra baggage or she isn’t here.

Stephanie Heintzeler is a German educated midwife and acupuncturist as well as US-educated doula and Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She was born in New York City but raised in Germany, where she found her enthusiasm for midwifery already when she was 12 years old- thanks to her brother who was born then. She successfully finished her midwifery-exam in 2000 at the midwifery-school in the Black Forest of Germany. While she was working in Frankfurt she started to get interested in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) so she continued her education in Acupuncture and acquired her certification in 2003. She moved back to her birth town in 2003. Her book “New Yorker Geschichten” (“New York Stories”) got published and she started her own Doula business after she had certified with DONA in 2006. In 2010 she founded Preggie LLC in Germany that imports Preggie Pops (www.preggiepops.de) from the US. Stephanie cares for women with all kinds of births- whether her clients choose a hospital birth, birthing center or home birth; she wants them to follow their own intuition about which birth place feels best. Stephanie has seen it all- breech births, many successful VBACs (Vaginal Birth after Cesarean), planned and unplanned c-sections, vaginal twin births and LGBTQ-families. With a former midwife-approach her clients feel taken care of from a holistic-medical perspective. She uses breathing techniques and positions to open the pelvis as well as her acupuncture background to make birthing as comfortable as possible. As of 2018 Stephanie has delivered over 2,500 babies and attended over 3,000 births. She is the owner of the New York Baby where she puts expecting parents/mothers in touch with doulas and baby nurses.
