I offer yoga and mindfulness meditation for women who are trying to become pregnant, are expecting and new moms. As you navigate this journey, the techniques I teach show you how to stay present, be strong (both physically and mentally), self-care, and remaining grounded throughout this profoundly incredible experience.
My path to yoga started as an undergrad when I took my first yoga class, and as cliche as it may sound, I was hooked; I enjoyed the gentle flow from pose to pose as well as the inner peace I felt at the end of class by being able to let go of things. When I began thinking about becoming a mom, I started a prenatal yoga teacher training, so I could become more informed about the whole experience.. I wasn't sure if I would ever teach classes. It took me nearly three years to become pregnant, and included multiple interventions: IUIs, IVFs, weekly acupuncture, mindfulness meditation, and especially yoga for fertility, which I researched and taught myself. Yoga offered me gentle movement and a safe place to be with what was going on. After going through this very intense and emotional journey to become a mama, I decided to finish my Prenatal yoga teacher training in order to offer moms-to-be guidance on their journey to motherhood.
I work on-one-on with mamas-to-be and new mamas to create a highly personalized yoga and/or meditation practice that is specific to her needs and goals. I provide all necessary props such as mats, blocks, bolsters and any handouts you will need for sessions. I bring the yoga to you in the comfort of your own home or office. For moms-to-be, the focus is on places that may need attention as your pregnancy progresses, staying strong to prepare for labor as well as poses (postures) for labor. For new mamas, the class focus is on gently returning to movement after labor, addressing any special needs such as for abdominal separation and how to create a realistic yoga practice with the responsibilities of a little one.
I completed a 200 hr level Yoga Teacher Training in Structural Yoga with Charlotte Stone. I have completed additional advanced yoga training: Gentle Yoga for Cancer, Yoga for Bone Strength, and Yoga for Cardiac Health. In addition, I completed an 85 hr BabyMoon Pre & Postnatal Yoga Teacher training with Carrie Parkter Gastelu at YogaWorks inNYC.
I am also an experienced meditator and have sat eight - weeklong silent retreats at Insight Meditation Society. I have furthered my understanding of buddhist studies and mindfulness (meditation) through additional courses and classes. I am the Meditation Consultant for BusyBee Organics in Jersey City. I was a Guest Presenter on Mindfulness and Meditation Methodology and Techniques, for the Stone Center for Yoga's 200 hr YTT for four years. I completed the Mindful Educator Essentials Training through Mindful Schools. I also completed a Lovingkindness & Compassion Meditation Teacher Training at IDP in NYC. I also completed the Open Heart Project Meditation Teacher training with Susan Piver and Jenna Hollenstein. I am currently taking MBSR Foundations Level I teacher training through the Mindfulness Center at Brown University.
