I am a certified childbirth educator, breastfeeding counselor and postpartum doula. As a postpartum doula, my role is to help ease the transition into parenthood after you return home with your baby. This includes breastfeeding and bottle-feeding support, emotional reassurance and practical advice for making life with a new baby enjoyable and stress-free. In addition to my postpartum work I teach regular childbirth education classes as well as newborn care and breastfeeding in groups or privately.
My focus is providing new parents with non-judgmental reassurance and guidance while getting to know their new babies. This includes help with breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, soothing, infant care, instilling good sleep habits, emotional support, and overall assistance transitioning into parenthood. Each week that goes by you overcome new hurdles and discover fresh challenges. My work is like an on-going class with the emphasis on understanding your baby, meeting her needs, and not losing yourself in the process.
I've been working for over 8 years in this field (prior to certification) for two different pediatric practices, hospitals, non-profits, clinics and in the Jersey City school system. I was part of the Postpartum Mood Disorder Initiative of NJ and successfully petitioned the PATH to create better signage and reminders for pregnant passengers. As a postpartum doula I've worked with families all over the NY Metro area. I'm trained as a newborn care specialist and a sleep consultant; I am also a certified breastfeeding counselor, able to provide support and assistance with breastfeeding. I am also a parent myself and have written numerous blogs and articles on the topics of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum period, and divorce/mediation.
