We are pleased to announce the launch of our very first 6-week tele-art therapy group beginning next month in response to the ongoing crisis and its huge impact on parents in particular. “Pandemic parenting” requires a Herculean effort to “keep it all together,” especially with many now adding teleworking and homeschooling to the mix, and self care gets pushed to the back-burner. We want to honor the unique caretaker experience and all of the intricate problem-solving and multi-tasking it requires in this “new normal” by dedicating a creative, compassionate space for parents to express themselves. NO artistic experience is necessary, as we work with basic art supplies from the comfort of your own home to explore a creative process with the aim of facilitating personal insight and creative resilience together. Through a series of online art therapy sessions led by a seasoned art therapist (who is also a working parent specializing in perinatal mental health) using an open studio process method based on socio-emotional weekly themes, participants will be invited to engage in mindful art-making while practicing self care and developing a stress relief outlet that can be used for creative coping outside of session as well.
